Native Stone Art is the next generation of Skin and Bones. Skin and Bones was opened by Bernie and Josie in the late 60’s on Yonge St. in Toronto. It remained there until the late 80’s when we moved to Queen West. In the early 90’s my parents decided to retire, changed the name to Native Stone Art and moved on to McCaul. They scaled back on the leather, the size of the store and increased the focus on indigenous crafts and art. In 2007 the landlord decided to redevelop the building and my Mom, then almost 80, ran the store through until Christmas and closed the brick and mortar version for good. We then moved the remaining stock to the Ottawa area. Since that time we have been displaying at various shows and assisting customers with direct requests.
The time has come to open an estore.
We will of course continue to do shows and as always provide a fantastic selection of North American Indigenous crafts.
We still take trips to the southwest to find the finest in Turquoise Jewelry, pottery, kachinas and occasionally a rug, just as we have done for the past 50+ years.
We also carry an extensive selection of both Inuit and Six Nations carvings.
